Hell's Kitchen New York

Where is Hell’s Kitchen?

Hell’s Kitchen New York is a Manhattan Midtown West neighborhood aka Clinton that in recent years became a trendy hub for restaurants, bars, and coffee shops. In the past, Hell’s Kitchen was mostly occupied by mom-and-pop stores that started to close down after many years of operation. The neighborhood as a whole went through a serious face-lift, few high rises were built, The Biltmore on 8th Ave & 47th St. Platinum Condo NYC on 8th Ave& West 46th St. and Hotel Riu Plaza Hotel.

At first, the change was slow and mostly felt on 8th Ave where the sex stores were closing down and the first well-decorated bar opened bringing young and cheering clientele to celebrate the nightlife, but little by little it was obvious that the whole neighborhood was rapidly taken by bars, restaurant and coffee shops, the change then was felt on 9th,10th, and 11th Ave.  every store that got empty either because the lease was over, or for any other reason, was quickly rented and turned into a trendy bar or a fancy restaurant. For the first time in many years the number of banks in the area has dwindled, banks closed or moved away and a cheerful and thirsty clientele filled up the bars and restaurants.

Why is it Called Hell's Kitchen?

"It used to be a pretty rough area of town. The term supposedly originated with a cop during the late 1800s who was there during some kind of riot. He said something along the lines that it had a hotter climate even than Hell, that this is Hell's Kitchen. Now that it's a more up-and-coming area, people are starting to refer to it as Clinton." Taken from Tripadvisor By Ms. Devan, Miami Florida

Originally the expression "Hells Kitchen" referred to a rough neighborhood on the South Side of London. The term in reference to New York first appeared in print on September 22, 1881, when a New York Times reporter went to a police guide to get details of a multiple murder there. He referred to a particular tenement at 39th Street and 10th Avenue as "Hell's Kitchen," and said that the entire section was "probably the lowest and filthiest in the city." According to this version, 39th Street between 9th and 10th Avenues became known as Hell's Kitchen and the name was later expanded to the surrounding streets."  Taken from Tripadvisor Live to Travel, Brooklyn, NY

Brighton Beach, Brooklyn, NYC

Brighton Beach, Brooklyn, NYC  Brighton Beach is a neighborhood located in Brooklyn, New York. For more information about Brighton Beach history, please click on the  Wikipedia   ⟵  link. Last weekend was a beautiful sunny day and I had the urge to visit the beach, the closest and most familiar beach next to Manhattan is Brighton Beach. So I placed my dog in the car and together  we were hading to Brighton Beach, I was in Brighton Beach a few times in the past, usually for real estate matters, I like the small houses before you get to the boardwalk and the sense of community, it has a feeling of relaxing and enjoying the moment, at least that's how I felt as I headed toward the Boardwalk. I like the fact that the Boardwalk is confined not with hotels but with residential buildings, the neighborhood feels like a small and unique community with people dressed in swimsuits on the way to the beach. The Boardwalk is wide and long and there are ...
